WASTE MANAGEMENT

Waste Management

Home  » Building Information  »  Waste Management

Builders and contractors, face increasing pressures to reduce construction waste going to landfill in WA.

The WA Government has increased its landfill levy from $3 per cubic metre for inert waste in 2006-07 to $12 per cubic metre for inert waste from 1 January 2010. Transport charges for waste disposal are also increasing as fuel and labour prices increase.

There are also government tendering, contractual and planning requirements to reduce wastes going to landfill. Some clients may ask for waste management plans to demonstrate the evironmental credentials of their buildings. Meanwhile, some local governments are requiring the separation of particular wastes.

Master Builders has produced a Waste Management Guide to assist builders and contractors, to see what they can do on their worksites in WA to avoid, reuse, recycle and dispose of wastes.
This Waste Management Guide is available to download for free.

Encycle Consulting is developing a set of resources to assist commercial construction sites to segregate waste materials for recycling and need your input to help Master Builder members to better manage waste disposal.

Please take 5 minutes to complete the questionnaire at www.encycle.com.au.
